Through Magical Forests to Ancient Egypt…
After months of preparation, our teams performed their long term solutions at the Manatee Regional Tournament for Odyssey of the Mind this past Saturday. Throughout the day, our teams showed leadership and creativity! At one point, even using a vacuum cleaner to clean confetti up after a massive spill in the grass…
From beginning to end, we could not be more proud of our Engineering Egyptians and Nocturnal Nightlife. These kids created magical elements that truly enhanced their solutions and played to their strengths.
Despite not advancing to the state level, our Division I team displayed admirable poise as they received their second place medals. Their performance was marked by grit, determination, and adept problem-solving when faced with unexpected challenges, maintaining a humorous tone throughout. While the Primary team progresses to the state competition through luck of the draw, we commend our Division I team for their notable achievements. Our appreciation extends to all Odyssey of the Mind students, and we eagerly anticipate tackling more challenges in the upcoming year.
tag! You're it!
While we were showing off our creativity at the tournament, tag! Children’s Museum of St. Augustine was creating their own type of magic back at Radiant! During this enchanting workshop, children immersed themselves in crafting unique puppets using fuzzy socks, pom poms, googly eyes, and ribbons. Infused with individuality, each puppet received a name and a distinct personality, leading to a burst of energy as the children proudly presented their very own puppet show.
The excitement doesn't end there! Another engaging workshop is scheduled for this upcoming Saturday, March 2nd, titled "Design Your Own Museum." We extend an invitation to all to join us for this next adventure, where imaginations run wild and creativity knows no bounds. Let's continue to celebrate the spirit of innovation and artistic expression together!
Blessings in a Backpack
In a meaningful collaboration, Radiant Learning recently partnered with Blessings in a Backpack, an organization dedicated to addressing childhood hunger. The First Coast Chapter of Blessings in a Backpack tirelessly works to provide weekend food assistance to over 4,500 children across four counties: Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns. By directly collaborating with local schools and school administrations, Blessings identifies undernourished and food-insecure students.
This impactful partnership took a hands-on turn as Blessings in a Backpack visited our center on Tuesday with a delivery of food and bags. Our Radiant Learning students seized the opportunity to gain insight into the challenges of food insecurity and actively participated in sorting, organizing, and packing food for 75 students from Valley Ridge Academy. The experience not only shed light on the crucial work of Blessings in a Backpack but also instilled a sense of purpose and community engagement among our students. Special shoutout to Ms. Sheetal for organizing this project. The collaborative effort brought joy to all involved, and we are eagerly looking forward to future initiatives, including a planned food drive, as we continue to support Blessings in their noble mission.
